My father, Richard F. Silzer, created several hundred oil and acrylic paintings over a span of about 40 years. Although his occupation varied from selling powered milk to driving a truck to being a barber, a meter reader, etc. in the south side of Chicago, he carved out time to attend local art classes at the Blue Island park district and dedicated his spare time to painting. Over the years he gave paintings to family and friends and sold paintings at local art shows.
Many of my father’s paintings are proudly displayed in our home and in the homes of other family members. There are, however, still several dozen paintings which have been in storage for many years. It is these paintings which I feature at Studio Silzer.
